I wish to meet Ryan Tannehill

  • Ryan Tannehill and Wish Kid Auston playing catch

  • The Miami Dolphins signing Auston's new helmet

  • Auston and Ryan Tannehill

  • Austin's family and staff from the Miami Dolphins that made Austin's wish possible!

“ At one point Ryan Tannehill and Auston are playing catch and I stood there and cried. Because it's not very often that you get to see your child's wish literally come true before your eyes. ”

- Wish Mom Kaye

Auston was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of one, and for the past ten years, he has endured many medical complications. Today Austin has a nervous system disorder and scoliosis. The 11-year-old from Colman found out he was going to receive a wish and he chose to travel to Florida to meet the Miami Dolphins and their quarterback Ryan Tannehill.

Auston made a trip to the Dolphins training facility where he received his own locker and jersey.  He spent the day with the team and quickly made friends with each player on the team. Auston and Ryan Tannehill played catch, ate lunch together, and Auston gave him a “Team Auston” t-shirt.  On game day Auston high-fived each teammate as they made their way to the field.

It’s a wish that turns out to be a big win for everyone.

Auston’s wish was made possible by gifts in memory of Vince & Mary Spader and Rebekah Spader. Special thanks to Make-A-Wish® Southern Florida for their help in granting Auston’s wish.

Here's a short clip that features Auston's Day with the Miami Dolphins:

The emotions hit you and you think back on all the hard times, everything he's been through. To realize his dream is being taken care of. You can't put it into words. ”

I am always so moved by these stories, you see I have also had my medical challenges well, since birth really and I know what's it's like to have to deal with the day to day challenges of life and these stories just go to show the power of meeting your favorite celebrity or taking that trip you've dreamed of, etc. sometimes it's things like that if even for a few minutes can do more to lift spirits more then anything, and it does just as much for the emotional health of the patient then any medical interventions can do
