According to Wish Mom Ashley, her daughter Melaynee (although only three years old) knows exactly what she likes and what she does not like. So when Melaynee was referred to Make-A-Wish®
South Dakota and approved for a wish, wish granters had their work cut out for them to find out what would be Melaynee’s perfect wish.
After sitting down with the three-year-old who one day hopes to be a princess or a cowgirl, the wish granters determined that her wish was to have a treehouse, so she could play all day.
In November of 2014, Melaynee was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. One of Melaynee’s favorite things to do is explore, and her treehouse wish gives her the opportunity to take her mind off of her diagnosis and any future hospital visits. With this wish, she is able to use her imagination so that every time she uses the treehouse, she goes on a new adventure.
Melaynee chose to spend her wish day with her friends and family. The treehouse turned out to be even more grandiose than Melaynee and her family had imagined it to be! As if the giant slide coming out of the side of the treehouse was not enough, Melaynee also received $500 to spend at Toys “R” Us to add the finishing touches to her dream treehouse. Melaynee’s backyard will now be an escape for her, where she can laugh and play with her brothers until the sun goes down. “Thank you for helping make Melaynee’s dream a reality,” Wish Mom Ashley says.
A special thank you to Melaynee’s wish granters for making her wish possible! Also, a huge thank you to Melaynee’s Adopt-A-Wish® partner who would like to remain anonymous. Last but not least, thank you to the following businesses for contributing to Melaynee’s wish: Cowboy Construction, Moore Lumber, Murdo Family Foods , Julie Moore Photography, and Toys “R” Us in Rapid City.
