Jared, 18, of Westport, had a unique wish that was fulfilled in June, a month in which we granted 13 wishes. His wish was to geocache in the Seattle, WA, area. Jared and his family, including his parents and brother, traveled from Sioux Falls to Seattle, the heart of geocaching, where his wish came true.
Jared chose to go to Washington because he wanted to visit the state where he was born in and it’s also home to the headquarters of geocaching. He had the chance to visit and tour the geocaching headquarters and was welcomed with open arms by the staff. A group of nearly 90 geocachers held a special picnic for him that made him feel very welcome.
The Seattle area is known for unique caches and Jared experienced them firsthand. Scott Meyers, known as Goblindust in the geocaching world, and one of the best geocachers in the business, took Jared under his wing for an adventure of a lifetime. Jared had the chance to find some of the most unique caches in the world.
While in Seattle, Jared and his family also rode the ferry and visited the Space Needle where they enjoyed dinner 500 feet in the air.
“Nothing could’ve been better,” Jared said. “It was perfect and more than I ever imagined.”
Jared’s wish was made possible by the employees of Premier Bankcard in Watertown
who adopted his wish. Special thanks to Make-A-Wish® Washington & Alaska
for their assistance.
