When Jacob, 16, of Sioux Falls, told the wish granters where he would like to go for his wish, they had to ask a few questions to find out exactly what he meant. Rooster Teeth, what is that?
Jacob has faced heart problems from birth and had three heart surgeries before he was two. In February of 2012 he had a heart transplant.
Once the volunteers heard more from Jacob, they knew that this was his one true wish. Rooster Teeth
is a creative production studio responsible for award-winning online videos such as Red vs. Blue
, the longest running web series in history; the reality gamer series The Gauntlet
; comedy series Rooster Teeth Shorts
; the upcoming animated series RWBY
, a show that tests video game concepts in the real world.
“The show is hilarious and ‘acting’ is pure genius,” Jacob said.
Accompanied by his parents, Kevin and Susan, Jacob flew from Sioux Falls to Austin, Texas, in May. Upon arrival at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
, Jacob was welcomed by a water salute, a very rare honor, by the airport crew and Delta Airlines
Jacob met the cast and crew of Rooster Teeth, including the founders, and even had the chance to record voice overs, some of which he said have been used in recent episodes. He enjoyed lunch with the crew and spent time on the set. While in Austin, he and his parents also enjoyed area sights and restaurants. It was a trip and experience he will never forget.
Jacob’s wish was made possible by Holmes Murphy and Associates in Sioux Falls. Special thanks to
Make-A-Wish® Central and South Texas for their assistance.
