“They decorated the store just for me!” was an excited statement from Damian, 13, from Rapid City, about his wish to go on a shopping spree in September. He also exclaimed that he will “never forget this day”.

Damian, who is battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, expressed that his favorite part of his wish was being able to meet and have lunch with the Rapid City Rush coaches at his favorite restaurant, Reb Lobster. The offer to meet the hockey players and go to a game later this season were only one of the many surprises in store for him on his day.

Before a big day of shopping, Damian was able to rest in his hotel suite and splash around at the WaTiki Waterpark. To shop in style the next day, he was chauffeured around in a limo. His first stop was Best Buy where he purchased a laptop, tablet, and accessories. Next stop on the list was Scheels. As he loves visiting the Outdoor Campus in Rapid City, he is now able to build on his passion of archery with his new bow!

After taking a break at Reb Lobster, he went to GameStop, where he was greeted with even more surprises. The employees had decorated the store just for him and even presented him with a Spiderman cake. He was able to bring home numerous games and some fun accessories for his new PS4, as well as pre-order the latest and greatest games yet to come out. To finish the day, he picked up some new shoes at Tradehome.

Damian’s mom, Jessi, shared the sentiment that “Everyone was so kind. They enjoyed helping and witnessing everything that was Damian’s wish. I don’t think I thanked them enough.”

Damian’s wish was made possible by Adopt-A-Wish® Partner the Rapid City Rush Foundation.
