- Bailey, wish kid

At a glance, Wish Kid Bailey is an outgoing, talkative, and inclusive 16-year-old who has a love for the Green Bay Packers, country music, and Christmas. What those who don’t know her might not realize is that Bailey is a fighter and has been ever since she was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma at a young age. As her dad, Britton, puts it, “From birth to today, nothing has been normal or easy for Bailey.” Still, Bailey manages to become a little bit stronger with each battle she faces and always keeps her focus on what is most important to her—her family.

When Bailey first started brainstorming what she wanted her wish to be, she always kept her family in mind, as she wanted them to be a big part of her wish experience. Her original idea was to go to a Green Bay Packers football game at Lambeau Field since she, her mom, and her sisters are big fans. However, after Bailey’s wish granters encouraged her to dream even bigger, Bailey thought about a trip her family once took to the Dominican Republic. She remembered how she used memories from that vacation to get through the difficult times she faced in the hospital. With that in mind, Bailey wished that she and her family could travel somewhere that had overwater bungalows.

Bailey’s wish ended up taking her and her family to Panama, where they stayed in an overwater bungalow. For Bailey, the highlights of the trip included seeing all the wildlife such as sloths and starfish, swimming with dolphins, and riding on ATVs. She also loved being able to jump into the water from the deck, which was only feet away from where she slept.

This is not an experience that Bailey will soon forget. Like her family’s previous trip to the Dominican Republic, their trip to Panama is now helping Bailey push through further doctors’ appointments. “I know I probably have some more tough times ahead, but I continue to think about how much I have already overcome and know I will overcome whatever comes my way,” Bailey shared.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Bailey’s wish come true, including Make-A-Wish® Panama for assisting in the wish and Great Western Bank in Sioux Falls for adopting her wish. “I want to say thank you so much for making my wish come true. It was the best experience in the world,” Bailey said.
