Wish kid Ashlyn is a determined and spunky 9-year-old girl with a love for the outdoors. If she can’t be outside, her mom, Angela, says Ashlyn can be found walking around in the house using her crutches—just for fun.
When talking about Ashlyn’s wish, her family watched videos of the parade and the fireworks show at Walt Disney World. This played a big part in helping Ashlyn determine her one true wish. Her wish to go to Walt Disney World offered her the opportunity to be outside all day, every day. It was also important for all of Ashlyn’s immediate family to be part of the trip.
Ashlyn and her family enjoyed the dolphin and whale shows at SeaWorld®, where the trainers instructed the dolphins to pose for a picture with all the children. Ashlyn also loved meeting all of the pretty princesses and getting their autographs, which she’ll be able to hold onto forever to help her remember her wish trip. What made the wish experience special for Ashlyn, though, was “the fact that Ashlyn was able to just be herself for an entire week. There was no need to be strong for any shots or blood draws,” Angela shared.
Although Ashlyn’s nervous system disorder makes her unable to truly express her own feelings, her mom knows that she loved every minute of their trip, “except when it was time to leave. The entire trip was incredible. We will forever be thankful for the experience and memories made during that special week,” Angela said.
Through the generosity of The Walt Disney Company, Ashlyn experienced her fondest wish to visit the Walt Disney World® Resort. Ashlyn’s wish was adopted by Jack and Gina Hopkins.
