will present a $162,885 check to Make-A-Wish South Dakota tonight - Friday August 18 - during Bike Night at J&L in Sioux Falls for the proceeds from Hot Harley Nights
. Make-A-Wish South Dakota received an additional $213,275 of in-kind donations for the event for a grand total of $376,160.
“We are excited to announce the results of this year’s event. Not only does this event raise a significant dollar to make wishes come true for children with life-threatening illnesses, but it also positively showcases Sioux Falls’ hospitality and the generous nature of local businesses and the community,” said Char Roth, J&L Harley-Davidson
, Chief Financial Officer and event chair. “We are very grateful to everyone who participated and they should be proud to know that the funds will stay in South Dakota and make many children’s wishes come true.”
The 2017 event featured four days of special events including Family Night, motorcycle show, free concerts, casino run, motorcycle parade, raffles, silent and live auctions and more. The casino run had nearly 1,200 bikes registered from ten states and Canada. Eleven Wish Kids led the parade of over 4,000 motorcycles on Saturday July 8.
Over three hundred volunteers helped make this event happen, along with 56 sponsoring businesses, plus contributions for auctions and raffles from 212 additional companies and individuals.
“Hot Harley Nights just gets better every year,” said Paul Krueger, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish South Dakota. “We’re so grateful to everyone who participates. It truly makes an impact for the organization, Wish children and their families.”
Make-A-Wish South Dakota serves the entire state and will grant more than 70 wishes at an average cost of $7,200 a wish this fiscal year. Find out more at southdakota.wish.org
